Why Doesn'T Margot Robbie Have Social Media

The ‘Birds of Prey’ star took to Instagram on Sunday (13.06.21) to post a picture of herself and some friends celebrating the success of ‘Pretty Young Woman’ – which was produced by her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment – and used the caption to reveal she will be stepping back from her social media platforms for the time being.

She wrote: “Jumping off social media for the time being – check out @luckychapentertainment if you’re interested in what we’re up to, otherwise ciao for now! (sic)”

Margot didn’t state why she’s taking a social media break, but the star isn’t a frequent poster online and regularly takes weeks or even months away from updating her fans on her life.

The 30-year-old actress also doesn’t like sharing too many details about her private life, and once said she “strives” to be like Cate Blanchett, who also keeps her life out of the spotlight as much as possible.

“But I like the choices Cate Blanchett has made. She’s not someone who’s always in the tabloids. Her personal life remains personal and that’s something I want to strive towards.”

Meanwhile, the actress also previously revealed she was warned about going into business with her husband, Tom Ackerley, with whom she set up LuckyChap in 2014.

Margot – who is also working with their then-flatmate Josey McNamara, as well as her childhood friend Sophia Kerr in the production company – said: “To be honest, when we first started the company, a lot of people warned us against it and said, ‘Business and friends do not mix. It always ends dirty.’ We heard that a lot.”

Josey said: “But we have such a shorthand because we know each other and each other’s taste so well, so it’s just so seamless. And it also makes it enjoyable.”

While Tom added: “Exactly, and we really try to promote that familial environment at the company, too. It’s a hard thing to do, and I think we’ve succeeded.”Celebs have social media accounts too, but sometimes fans have to ruin things for everyone. Margot Robbie Announces She's Taking A Break From Social Media 'for The Time Being'

Celebs have social media accounts too, but sometimes fans have to ruin things for everyone. Case in point: apparently Margot Robbie had a Letterboxd account but she felt like she had to delete it after it was discovered. Then again, maybe it isn’t her account? Here’s what we’ve learned so far.

If you’re not familiar with Letterboxd, it’s essentially a social media platform for movie lovers. On the platform, you can rate movies, make lists of your favorites, write reviews, and more general movie stuff. It definitely wouldn’t be that far-fetched for an actor like Margot Robbie to have an account. If this is indeed Robbie’s account, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed some lists she made for her upcoming roles. Check out this Tweet below that Robbie may have put together for the upcoming Barbie movie:

This kind of list might be the reason Margot Robbie had to get rid of her account. With movie inspiration lists, there’s the potential for plot spoilers. After all, why would you need to watch

For inspiration for the Barbie movie? The classic Jim Carrey movie depicts a man who doesn’t know he’s being filmed in a fake town for a reality show. Maybe it has something to do with Barbie not knowing that she’s a toy? Either way, if this list is actually on Robbie’s to-watch list, it means speculation can run wild about the upcoming movie.

Then again, Letterboxd posted on Twitter to say that Robbie doesn’t have an account, so maybe this is just one of those times the Internet is wrong. Check out the Tweet from Letterboxd below:

Is definitely one of the most interesting projects on Margot Robbie’s plate. The film doesn’t have any plot details released, but we do have a picture of Robbie in Barbie’s famous pink convertible. The movie has a lot of big names behind it, with Greta Gerwig directing and co-writing the script with Noah Baumbach. Robbie will obviously be playing Barbie, and Ryan Gosling is on board to play Ken. The cast is also stacked with a great supporting cast including Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Michael Cera, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon, and more.

While it is unfortunate that Margot Robbie had to take down her Letterboxd account, it is pretty cool to see the inspiration she’s taking for her upcoming movies.
